First stop was Fox Glacier which required a 1.5 hour return hike. It's disconcerting to see how much it has receded. The word on Lake Matheson was that it's one of the top 10 scenic lakes in the world. This is due to the beautiful views of Mt Cook in the background. We'll never know... Continue Reading →
Got a late fix of AFL last night with the live telecast at 9.50pm! A tardy start in the morning meant checking out 10.00am then as we went through the gate then pulled over to set the satnav, a little orange light in the shape of an engine caught my eye on the dashboard. Do... Continue Reading →

It was a late start after a sleep in to catch up on the 3.30am start from yesterday. Booked our snow shuttle/lift passes for Tuesday and Wednesday, managed to find reasonably... Continue Reading →
Finally arrived in Queenstown, settled into our room and ventured out into the streets. Scenic describes the place perfectly and despite the delayed stopover in Melbourne the wait was worth it. Snow capped mountains and clear sunny skies were the order of the day. After grabbing some breakfast supplies we hit the town to find... Continue Reading →
Two sleeps out and this is a rough plan of our journey. Starting in Queenstown on Friday 15th September, we pick up our campervan next Friday for two weeks touring the island.
